Virtual Private Network Is Still Important as It Was Few Years Before

VPN is imperative for privacy and security. Amidst the talk around cybersecurity and the need for OT security solutions, don’t let anything distract you from the fact that VPN is still pretty much a crucial facet in your tech armory.

Sebastian Schaub, who is the founder of the VPN-based company hide.me, has recently given an interview to Techradar. In the interview, he elucidated about the service that he has initiated and also the importance of VPN in the cyber world.

Only in the pandemic did we realize the importance of VPN. Several companies utilized the technology to protect the data as employees worked from home, disguising themselves behind proxy servers. In geographical locations where strict internet regulations have been imposed, VPN services have played a paramount role in recent months.

Even while sitting in the US, you can watch geographically restricted shows from anywhere in the world. In philosophical terms, VPNs are nothing short of magic.

So, as the talks surrounding human rights and freedom of speech are gaining intensity, Techradar decided to call Sebastian Schaub for an interview. You can read excerpts from the interview via a blog post posted recently on the official Techradar site. In the interview, Schaub specifically talked in length about the role of technology in ensuring the privacy of the users and what we can see of Virtual Private Networks in the coming years.

He said in the interview that his company is expecting an increase in the use of the protocol called “WireGuard” in the industry. He added that it’s a step in the positive direction and would play a “win-win” situation. He alluded to the fact that a protocol such as “WireGuard” might benefit both the industry and the customer base.

He was also quoted as saying by Techradar that encryption is the cornerstone of the internet, and it would remain as it is. He expounded the idea by saying that encryption comprehensively ensures two primary factors of security, which are human rights and privacy. He also delivered home his point when saying that these are two of the most important factors in everyone’s lives and should be considered as the need, not as privacy.

He explained that freedom is imperative, and VPN is just one facet of the whole toolset that should be employed to ensure it.
